Denis Smitka established "Smitka" in 1993 to design, manufacture and market contemporary architectural lighting of an international calibre throughout Australia and New Zealand.
Smitka's design ethic values equally the functional and the aesthetic.
Combining a passion for quality with small production runs ensures that Smitka lighting maintains a uniqueness not available to mass-produced products.
In June 2002, the design of the Poli lighting range was recognised by the Australian Design Awards and awarded an Australian Designmark.

Design professionals have used Smitka lighting extensively in both commercial
and residential interiors, including P&O Australian Resorts' Cradle Mountain Lodge, The Star Alliance Lounges of Chek Lap Kok Airport, as well as numerous restaurants, offices, retail spaces and homes.
